Welcome to Tanzania! After landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be greeted by our friendly African Diversity Tours team. We’ll transfer you to your hotel in Moshi, where you can relax and prepare for your climbing journey. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a welcome dinner to brief you on the upcoming adventure.
After a hearty breakfast, we’ll drive to the Lemosho Gate (2,100m), where you’ll complete the necessary park registration. As we embark on our hike through the lush rainforest, keep an eye out for unique flora and fauna, including the famous Kilimanjaro tree hyrax! The trail leads us to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,780m), where we’ll set up camp for the night. Enjoy your first dinner under the stars!
Today’s trek takes us through the beautiful moorland zone, rich with fascinating plants like the giant lobelia. As we ascend, the views of the Kibo summit become more pronounced. We’ll reach our next stop, Shira 1 Camp (3,500m), by lunchtime. Take a moment to soak in the views and enjoy a well-deserved rest. In the evening, we’ll gather for a delicious dinner and prepare for tomorrow’s adventure.
Today is all about acclimatization! We’ll take a gentle hike to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m), giving you a chance to adapt to the altitude. The views along the way are mesmerizing, with panoramic vistas of the surrounding valleys and peaks. Once at camp, you can relax, take photos, or explore the area. A hearty dinner will await you as you tuck in for the night.
As we leave Shira 2, we’ll trek towards Barranco Camp, passing through the vast alpine desert. The landscape will shift dramatically, offering a striking contrast to the lush vegetation of previous days. Today’s highlight is the Barranco Wall, a steep ascent that rewards you with stunning views of the Kibo summit and the surrounding landscape. After this exhilarating day, you’ll camp at Barranco Camp (3,960m), where you can relax and enjoy dinner with your fellow climbers.
Today, we’ll tackle the famed Barranco Wall, a thrilling climb that will have your spirit soaring. Once at the top, you will be rewarded with spectacular views. After a well-deserved break, we will descend slightly before heading to Karanga Camp (4,030m). This camp is nestled in a beautiful valley, providing a perfect resting spot before our big summit push. Enjoy your last dinner on the mountain and prepare for the adventure ahead!
Today’s trek takes us up to Barafu Camp (4,640m), where we will rest and prepare for the summit night. The trail is a mix of rocky terrain and short ascents. Once at Barafu Camp, enjoy a warm meal and rest up, as we will wake up at midnight for our summit attempt!
It’s time for the moment you’ve been waiting for! We will start our ascent to Uhuru Peak around midnight. The climb is challenging, but the reward is priceless. As you reach the summit (5,895m), witness the breathtaking sunrise over the African plains, a moment you’ll carry in your heart forever. After celebrating your achievement, we’ll descend to Mweka Camp (3,100m) to rest and reminisce about the incredible journey.
After breakfast, we’ll take a leisurely hike down to Mweka Gate (1,640m). Here, you’ll receive your summit certificate, which is a testament to your hard work and determination. Our team will be ready to greet you and celebrate your success. A transfer back to Moshi will follow, where you can relax and soak in the accomplishments of your climb.
